It’s common to hear about entrepreneurs who used the capital they earned from a preceding endeavor to build a thriving new startup or about established business owners who took over a decades-old franchise and remodeled it into something brand-new. These stories are inspiring in their own way; but what’s even more inspiring and motivating is to hear about people who started with nothing.

These people, these entrepreneurs are those who took a leap of faith and started their journey with no capital, no funding, and maybe no experience at all, yet despite the odds, they were still able to build a massive success.

One of those rags to riches story is of Moyn Islam — a now CEO under 30 whose journey to becoming a millionaire at a very young age has served as an ispirtaiton to many. Moyn is one of the BE Founders, the company he built together with his brothers Monir Islam and Ehsaan B. Islam to provide a digital space for people to build their own business using their mobile phones.

So, how did this CEO Under 30 Moyn Islam accomplish such unlikely feats, and what can we, as aspiring entrepreneurs, learn from him?

Be bold enough to take risks.

As one of his mentors always says, “you’ve got to be hungry”!

Moyn always knew he had the hunger to be an entrepreneur and be financially free with no boss to report to. He was 22 when he first tested his waters in re-selling products online together with his brothers Monir Islam and Ehsaan B. Islam.

Jumping in the bandwagon of online selling worked out well for him, earning extra, additional to his 9–5 job as an IT coordinator.

“My life changed the day I confronted my fear. Of course, the journey wasn’t a walk in the park. But had I not taken the first step, taken the risk of finally doing something outside of my comfort zone, I wouldn’t have unlocked the bigger picture for myself. If you want to be an entrepreneur, in all aspects of setting up a business, the first step is taking risks.”

Visualize your goals, the life you want to live, and adapt it.

As Moyn puts forth, one key element in becoming successful in distinguishing the lifestyle you want to live and then start working for it backward.

This reverse engineer approach gives you a clear overview of where you want to end up, and what you can and should do to get there.

“Back then, my ultimate goal was to give my family the best lifestyle — debt-free, traveling the world, and having the freedom to do anything without money holding us back. So I pondered hard about what I could do that would enable me to do all of those things. I asked myself what my future income would have to look like to accomplish those personally pleasing goals. And the business we run today reflects exactly that.

If you intend to live your dream lifestyle, you need to ask yourself what you need to do to manifest that lifestyle in the first place. This alone makes you excited enough to be motivated. That passion will overflow into your work and success.”

Trust yourself
If you don’t believe in yourself, who will?”

As per Moyn, being a thriving entrepreneur means that you’ve mastered listening to your own intuition and rely on your guts and wisdom when making decisions. Your strength to trust and believe in yourself will manifest your confidence.

“Remember, people are inclined to trust and follow confident leaders. Believing in your skills will beat the uncertainty and inevitable pains out of being an entrepreneur. And in the face of uncertainty, remember how much knowledge and experience you have”

Be passionate; be fearless

“If you don’t love what you do, don’t do it. It doesn’t get simpler than that.”

It shouldn’t surprise you to know that entrepreneur, most especially those who are just starting, put in long hours and make sacrifices for the business. “When you’re passionate about what you do, work doesn’t feel like work and putting in the long hours won’t feel like a sacrifice anymore.”

Your passion serves as your motivation. If you love what you do, stress and tiredness do not get into you easily. Have you ever noticed those entrepreneurs who never appear to get tired? Those ones who get that radiance in their eyes when they speak about what they do?

That’s passion. And that’s unbeatable.

It’s all about growing your network. Network, network, network.

“The ability to network is one of the most fundamental skills any entrepreneur can have. Think about it. How else will you meet your prospect clients and contacts needed to grow your business? There is no such thing as too much networking. You shouldn’t ever stop networking as you never know where your next lead may come from.”

The best way to win at networking is to build a plan, commit to it, enhance your networking skills, and execute your plan. To create the best strategy, ask yourself: What is it that I want to achieve? How many prospects (leads) do I want per week, per month? Where do my clients and prospects go to network?

Odds are, if you network with enough people, you’ll bump into another entrepreneur who might have the ideas and connections you need.

Last words: You can do it. And you can help others do it too!

“Building our company was once a dream, a blueprint laid out in our minds. But with the proper mindset, it flourished. You’ve got to have the hunger to manage the path before you, and don’t forget to help others strive.”
