Traveling to Israel Tips, Precautions and Ideas
Is traveling to Israel safe? What the documents we need for travel? How many days do I need to undertake this type of trip? What kind of plugs will I need to connect all my devices? How does transportation work? These and many other questions come to you when you get ready to travel to Israel. It is so, I have asked them and it is normal that some questions arise about the security of the area, how to move in it, where to eat or what to eat, customs, airports and everything else. To lend a hand to travelers who make a trip or a long-distance trip to this country I tell you the doubts that I had and the “solution” that we found. Check out these tips for traveling to Israel without worries and with the clearest ideas.
Travel Safety
Security is fundamental to the Israelis. They are not very compromising in this regard. You will notice it if you travel with ElAl since you have very demanding safety regulations: they will do an interrogation at your departure airport, you will probably be registered all your belongings, including purse, mobile, etc. On the return it will also be the same procedure. When they check your passport, they will focus on trips you have made to Arab countries, in my case, that I usually travel a lot were very inquisitive with stays in Morocco, Indonesia or Malaysia. Do not be nervous, surely you have nothing to hide and it is not personal, try to have safe flights and do not have problems on board. In the end, safety during the trip is essential for everyone.
Security in Israel
Tel Aviv airport is like any other, it is very quiet and you will simply have to pass immigration to the entrance. There are countries that have large exit controls such as Malaysia, but in Israel this is not the case. When you arrive, you will have to show your passport, they will ask you one or two questions, in my case they were very brief about the reasons for the trip and little else.
Israel is a safe country, entry into train stations and shopping centers is controlled by security. You will have to show your bag, if it is small, in the case of shopping centers and go through a scanner at the stations. It can be a bit annoying, but after all they are watching over your safety. The most striking thing about Israel is to find young military men with weapons on the street, on trains or anywhere. It is very curious and, in a way, disturbing to find young boys and girls with guns pointing at you on a bus or on a train. Personally, it causes me some concern.
Transportation and Communications
Ben Gurion airport is very well connected by train, bus and other private means with Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Whether you are staying in Tel Aviv or if you are in the capital of Israel, I advise you to take the train from the airport. It will take around 20 minutes to Tel Aviv downtown, there are several stops in the city the first about 12 minutes from Tel Aviv Ha’Hagana airport, later Tel Aviv-Hashalom and Tel Aviv Savidor Center, which were the ones we used. If you go to Jerusalem you will arrive at Jerusalem Yitzhak Navon and from there it is very easy to take the tram to the door of Jaffa or New Gate that will give you direct access to the old part of the city.
